About

This blog is an attempt to explore the relevance of rural life in French identity.

How far is France a rural country at heart? How is it portrayed by the media? How much is the “terroir” part of our everyday life and habits?

I am French. I’ve been raised in the countryside as a small child and then moved to Paris. I have also travelled a lot in different parts of the world, especially in the Middle East and North Africa. In no other country have a felt this strong tie between people and peasantry.

I am currently studying journalism and international affairs at Sciences Po in Paris. I also work as a freelance journalist from Beirut (Lebanon).
